Three thousand people questioned to measure traffic safety levels
ADP FHQ represented by the Traffic and Patrols Department and in collaboration with Saaed Company for Traffic Systems intends to question 3 thousand persons to measure the community members’ knowledge and awareness of traffic safety levels. The results will be summed up and published to curb traffic accidents.
ADP and Saaed have developed a questionnaire. Then it has been submitted to the Emirates University to be scientifically refereed which consisted number of demographic changes, useful questions, drawings and several psychological tests.
The questionnaire has been launched after it was approved by other academic and scientific authorities. The questionnaire consisted of 12 virtual questions some of based on “Likert” Scale. All questions are connected to the concepts and issues of traffic safety culture and related to the UAE environment.
Colonel (Engineer) Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of ADP Traffic and Patrols Department and Chairman of Saaed Board of Directors said “The outcome will assist in making practical and scientific proposals to enhance dissemination of traffic safety culture levels among community members, with a view to finding a community free of traffic accidents” added Al Harthi.
“The study sample covered 3000 persons who will be selected="true" randomly for three months. The sample includes government, semi-government and private sectors personnel, in addition to laborers, students and drivers. He hopes that participants, especially youth category, will answer the questions accurately. The authority which will sort out the questionnaire answers will measure its effectiveness and impact on traffic flow organization at all levels to achieve road users' safety and security”, added Al Harthi.
The results of the questionnaire will be announced by Traffic Department and Saaed Company on Medias and will be posted on Saaed web site. The results will also be published on Saaed web site for browsers to give their views about the questionnaire outcome and services which will be delivered. This will contribute to services development and improvement.
The questions will be simple and can be answered in few minutes. They can be answered in Arabic or English, they are namely as “I strongly agree”, “I agree”, I do not agree”, “I Never agree and I do not know”. Some questions will be answered by “Yes: or “No”. At the end of the questionnaire there are psychological tests and drawings from the surrounding traffic environment.
Then Traffic Department and Saaed will form a working team (Committee) to study and analyze the after they have been sorted out. The work will be designed according to answers and views to enrich traffic development in accordance with transparency adopted by Traffic department and Saaed, as per their strategic plans and their interaction with the community members.
