Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior reiterated that excellence became a key aspect of the UAE, as government and people. All this because of the support and attention given by the leadership of the country who gives hope to the sons of a united people, to achieve the highest levels of progress, well-being and stability.

“The leadership of the UAE, led by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, is keen to keep the UAE as role model of modernity and development, by supporting the march of excellence, which became a key requirement in today’s world.”

This came in a statement by His Highness Sheikh Saif after the honoring ceremony for the winners of the 3rd edition of the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Awards, which was held today at the Police Officers’ Club in Abu Dhabi. Hi Highness launched the smart development program for the award. “The UAE’s police today faces a big challenge to prove that police work is a true companion of culture, innovation, prestige and excellence,” His Highness Said. He also stressed that the efficiency of the police institution comes from gaining the trust of the people and customer satisfaction.

His Highness hailed the participating individuals, teams and institutions for their efforts, whether to win this award in its various categories, or to participate.

“Today we celebrate the winners of the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Awards,” HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security, “In this occasion, I would like to invite everyone to think deeply about the aspects of the award, and its objectives, to understand how comprehensive it is in driving further the march of innovation. This is achieved through its three categories, which help with the sustainable corporate development of performance towards quality and excellence, so the positive effects will benefit the ministry as a whole.” He pointed that the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award complements the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award, aiming to elevate the levels of services and develop the standards of comprehensive quality and the standards of performance in all sectors of the Ministry of Interior.

Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Police and General Security explained that the Minister of Interior Award reflects the ministry’s strategy and the aspiration of His Highness Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, which aim to motivate the employees of the public and private sectors to excel and innovate. It also serves to develop a sense of positivity within the public and encourages them to compete at the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award and promotes the cooperation between the police institution and the various segments of society.

Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan, expressed his utmost gratitude to all the staff of the MoI and police commands in the UAE, in appreciation for their active participation in the categories of the award. He also praised the role of the unbiased evaluation committees and their efforts to help the award achieve its target objectives.

Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award Committee, said that the success stems from the directives of Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, who established and fostered the march of excellence in the ministry and its commands to achieve significant leaps in the field of strategic development.

Maj. Gen. Al Nauimi stressed the keenness and attention given by the higher police command to the importance of excellence and superiority, and to motivate the staff to maintain the achievements realized in the fields of security and safety. He pointed that the MoI is working tirelessly to realize the aspirations through its strategic vision, which focuses on efficient work, so that the UAE can become one of the world’s safest and most secure countries.

He said that the award motivated the implementation of the international aspects and standards of police excellence, and created a spirit of competition between the various sectors and commands at the MoI, as well as their employees. It also gave them the chance to demonstrate their skills and achievements and utilize them in to serve and develop police work, as the ministry won the best team for internal development in the UAE at the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award 2014.

Major General Dr. Abdul Quddous Abdul Razzaq Al Obaidly, General Coordinator of the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award, said that the launch of the award in 2011 came to find a corporate framework and an approach to governance and motivation. He pointed that the vision of the higher leadership and its continuous support enabled the MoI from taking the lead in excellence not only in the UAE, but also worldwide in the field of international competitiveness and award-winning.

He added, “We are moving forward towards the fourth generation of government excellence, which was launched by the government, as a part of the Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program in its edition in 2016.”

He mentioned the excellence motto which was launched during the first edition of the award, “everybody is a winner,” to become and established principle reflected in reality in the 3rd edition of the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award, by increasing the number of participations. The participation came up to 450 divided to 65 categories. He explained that the general secretariat of the award, in order to encourage and enable, decided to increase the number of participations by increasing the motivations in the main categories of the award including: excellent department, excellent region, and excellent comprehensive police station in accordance with the strategic value based on fairness, transparency and excellence.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Ali Bin Daen Al Ghafli, Head of the Organizational Excellence Department at the Directorate General of Strategy and Performance Development at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, gave a speech. He said, “Our ceremony today is a part of a chain of successes, which we have, and will always strive to at the MoI on all levels. The MoI took upon itself the responsibility of excellence and set success as its only goal. It encouraged teamwork and dedication and held the belief of the noble message it carries within the future vision of police command, set to spread the culture of excellence and make it a an actual practice in the corporate and operational performance. It also launched the Minister of Interior’s Excellence Award’s system in 2011, to set the comprehensive framework of the corporate excellence and the competition between all the various sectors, commands, teams and employees within the MoI, to be one of the first security excellence organizations worldwide.”

He explained that the award motivated the implementation of the international aspects and standards of police excellence, and created a spirit of competition between the various sectors and commands at the MoI, as well as their employees. It also gave them the chance to demonstrate their skills and achievements and utilize them in to serve and develop police work, as the ministry won the best team for internal development in the UAE at the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award 2014, as well as the Intellectual Property Certification from the UAE’s Ministry of Economy. He pointed to the results and achievements realized by implementing the system of the Minister of Interior’s Award, which included:

The percentage of the corporate performance improvement in various sectors and commands was 19% compared to the previous edition; the percentage of the participation in the various categories of the award improved by 12% compared to the previous edition. The award provided a fertile environment to train and sharpen the skills of excellence evaluators, as the increase in the number of the ministry’s participating evaluators was 69% compared to the previous edition. The award also helped in preparing the ministry to participate in the local and international excellence awards, as the number of awards which the ministry won in the Mohammed bin Rashid Government Excellence Award increased from 50% in 2012 to 72.2% in 2014 with 16 awards out of 22. The number of the international awards won by the ministry increased from 5 in 2013 to 15 in 2014.

He pointed that the work team supervising the award at the ministry develops the award, after every edition, to match the latest developments on all levels; while the excellence experts’ team at the ministry reviews and evaluates the categories, standards, and mechanisms of the award, in accordance with the system of governmental excellence (fourth generation) and the UAE’s strategy of smart transformation.

The Smart Excellence Program aims to increase the efficiency of corporate excellence, elevate the readiness to participate in the governmental and global awards and develop the performance of the evaluators by monitoring and following up their performance.
