The Community Service Department at the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters announced the introduction of two new services to the public (via telephone and online), to register at the Traffic Points Rehabilitation Program in order to achieve customer satisfaction.
The Department assigned a direct phone number (600566006) for customers who want to register at one of the Traffic Points Programs (Public, Private and Heavy). The Department also introduced online registration on Abu Dhabi Police official website (E-Service/Traffic Points Rehabilitation Program) or directly through Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway, (www.adpolice.gov.ae/csd).
Abu Dhabi Police had launched the Traffic Points Rehabilitation Program in April 2011. The program grants violating drivers the opportunity to reform their behavior and develop their skills. The program also motivates drivers to adhere to traffic laws by enrolling them in rehabilitation programs at the Emirates Driving School, at Mussafah, Abu Dhabi, in order to educate and train them on traffic laws. Such programs are organized in collaboration with the strategic partners of the Community Service Department.
Captain Mubarak Saeed Al Rashidi, Director of Statistics Division at the Community Service Department said that the total number of individuals who enrolled in the program since it was launched in April 2011, has reached 821 violating drivers. These individuals enrolled in 89 training courses: 55 in Arabic, 31 in Urdu and 3 in English. 95.5% of the drivers were men while only 4.5% were women.
“According to a survey conducted with the drivers who joined the courses, 93% of the drivers benefited from the rehabilitation program and its educational topics; 75% of the drivers took notice that the “careless and reckless driving” violation represent a main reason for accidents; while 60% of the drivers regarded community service work has a positive impact on correcting behavior more than other punishments,” said Al Rashidi.
Lieutenant Ahmed Rashid Al-Shehhi, Director of Public Relations Branch at the Community Service Department, said that the two new services facilitate the registration process at the Traffic Points Rehabilitation Program, conducted in collaboration with the Emirates Driving School, at Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.
He noted that drivers can register and inquire about the program by calling the direct phone number (600566006), during weekdays, except Fridays and Saturdays, from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm, or by calling or visiting the customer service office at the Emirates Driving School headquarters at Mussafah.
Al-Shehhi pointed out that customers can currently fill in the application forms directly online through the iPads provided by Community Service Department that seeks to promote sustainable environment and dispense with registration paperwork.
Al-Shehhi concluded by saying: “The Community Service Department plays an efficient role in reducing traffic violations by assessing the skills of drivers who enroll in the rehabilitation program. The assessment process includes analysis carried out by sociologists to address the reasons behind violations, define mistakes and then enhance drivers’ knowledge on traffic safety levels.”
