Warrant Officer Saif Nasser Al Senani lost 120 kilos of his weight and became only 70kg, in a fierce battle against obesity.

He joined Air Wing of Abu Dhabi Police in 2009 while he was 123 kg, but he had to reduce his weight and maintain physical fitness in order to remain in job.

He was able to put down his weight to 70 kilos, which encouraged him to continue studies. He obtained businesses administration diploma from Higher Colleges of Technology.

Lieutenant General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior offered him a scholarship to complete his studies in the UK in a good gesture reflecting the attention of the top leadership towards its people.

"I was 13 years old when I had an ankle fracture while playing football with Al Ain club under 20 years. "This the turning point in my life, as I began to put weight during the 3 months I was forced to remain at home.", he said.

"Food turned to be my favorite hobby rather than football. I used to eat over 15 meals per day to answer the demanding need of my huge body, thus making up for my lost dreams".

In eight year, my weight reached 190 kilos, he said sadly.

With eczema, the matter became even worse because cortisone which I was taking normally increases food cravings.  I also suffered high blood pressure and triglyceride; therefore, my treating doctor referred me to a dietitian.

I tried all diets control programs, but I could not lose a single kilo, he said.

Even though, I did not lose hope. I surfed all internet websites searching for a useful diet; I saw many doctors and dietitians, but in vain. I decided to give up and adapt to this situation.

“I will give a medicine that may increase your age a little bit, but to be honest, you are dead”, said a doctor.

Hearing this, I was completely shocked as no one wishes to die. I am young and have a lot of ambitions and dreams to achieve no matter how this will cost me.

I drove back home with a strong determination to change my life style and open a new chapter. I asked myself how I ended up as such. I was unable to perform Salat, nor able to walk or stand up without assistance. I had to do something to get out of this deep well. I felt as if I was breathing under water.

The day of change was on March 17, 2008 when I invented a special diet of my own which I called “diet of Saif Al Senani”.

Within one month, I lost 30 Kilos, thanks to the “fluids phase” in which I  strictly depended on natural juice, low fat milk, tea without sugar, little rice, potatoes and low fat yoghurt.

Then I moved to the second phase with high spirits receiving a lot of encouragement from my family and friends, he said. In this phase I was totally depending on small and balanced quantities of boiled and grilled meals, in addition to some fruits, vitamins and proteins. My weight decreases by half a kilo weekly. Every time I lose one kg of my weight, I add to my ambitions one kg of hope and will. I felt as my life seems to be longer than in the past, he went on saying.

Joining the High Technology College and Abu Dhabi Police in 2009 has played a major role in mapping my career future, he said.

To copy the example of his father who used to work in the police, Al Senani decided to shift to military status and fulfill his dreams. He became a warrant officer and decided to complete his studies abroad. When the Minister of interior heard about his marvelous story, he ordered granting him a scholarship to study in the UK.
