New building plan for GHQ finalized

 

 

The Department of Engineering Projects at ADP GHQ has finalized all designs concerning the execution of new expansions of Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters at a cost of Dh 147m.

According to Lt. Colonel (Engineer) Saif Hamdan al Kaabi, Director of Engineering Projects, Directorate General of Finance and Services at Abu Dhabi Police, during designing stage the need for spatial space by ADP GHQ has been considered. The new expansion is expected to meet future requirements and is in harmony with design of the present HQ building.

The project consists of four architectural units. The main eight-storey building which is similar to the existing building. Administration building is a five-storey building. The third unit is the mosque which can accommodate 105 worshippers. The last unit is the parking area which is can accommodate 255 vehicles.

HH the Deputy prime Minister and Minster of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan spare no effort to develop and qualify nationals in ADP and provide them with modern technology by sending them abroad for higher qualifications. Attracting national engineers from local and foreign academic institutions are also being considered.

The Strategic Plan of the Department is based on making use of available resources and executing them in accordance with the latest specifications and future requirements. These projects require preparation of nationals to supervise the projects, in accordance with ADP strategic objectives which call for provision of equipment, buildings and other mechanisms that promote services.

In accordance with security services delivered by ADP in its geographical jurisdiction, the Headquarters has been very keen to provide vital buildings and establishments for police organization at all cities of Abu Dhabi Emirate. The urban, economic, and social growth which the city now witnesses requires developed police stations with proper deployment for security services. The engineering designs should suit the nature of the security responsibilities and its requirements to assure security and safety of people and properties.

The Department always follows up the latest developments in engineering design and the use of modern technologies making smart buildings, in terms of energy, air conditioning and surveillance systems. This approach will be implemented in the near future as starting point for the execution of police buildings in the future. All Departments, especially police stations will be linked together with advanced control systems, connected with the Control Room in Engineering Project Department.

Regarding this approach the idea of smart buildings is based on setting up an integrated electronic system encompassing all systems within one multi-service infrastructure. Not only telecommunications, video and information systems, but it allows linking all HQ Systems within the buildings in one network. This can provide several services including the Internet, telecommunications, radios, Network Protection Systems, surveillance Systems in addition to mobile communication equipments. It also enhances health protection and security in the buildings.

Regarding the achievements of the Department during the past year, he has stated that due to economic, social and urban developments and the expansion of police work, materialistic capabilities should be made available to enable policemen to carry out their tasks and duties.
