Emirates Identity Authority announces new formula for registration
Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) has announced the launch of new registration strategy in order to finalize the set up of Population Register, for nationals and residents, and to issue an ID card for each individual registered in the country.
This step comes under the media campaign implemented by the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, represented by the Department of Technical Affairs and Security Media, to introduce the new strategy under the slogan “ID card is Your Way to Prosperity”.
Dr. (Engineer) Ali Mahmood Khoori, Deputy Chairman of High management Committee at EIDA said “The new registration strategy which is approved by the Board of Directors is in response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors. It is a result of the Committee efforts. The Committee is formed by HH to review and develop registration plan in collaboration with representatives from MoI, Ministry of labor, EIDA Board of Directors and Office of HH”.
The strategy will focus on setting up a population register for nationals and residents, issuing an ID card for anyone registered in the country, in accordance with effective registration plan based on re engineering of procedures. Registration will be linked to residency renewal and issue and the development of the unified electronic registration form system.
“EIDA will set up a bigger registration office in Abu Dhabi city, in stead of the present office located at Al Mushraf Area with a higher assimilation capacity, in response to the public remarks and suggestions. Another office will be opened at the Department of Preventive Medicine and other places. Coordination will be made with schools and universities to activate their role in students’ registration process. Those who are below 15 are not obliged to report to registration offices. Laborers will registered at their accommodation sites, in addition to a number of new other procedures”, added Dr. Al Khoori.
The new registration strategy will reduce transaction processing time from 20 minutes to 8-10 minutes. The number of registered people will gradually be increased to 8000 daily (1.5 million annually). The number of registered people through preventive medicine offices in coincidence with residency issue and renewal for residents will be increased to 12,000 daily (2 million annually).
The new registration strategy will deal with three themes: Reengineering of registration procedures, linking registration of residents with residency issue and renewal and using mobile registration facilities for laborers category. Actual implementation of the three themes will be gradual and within the made plans to achieve the desired aims of the new registration strategy.
In respect of the first theme, reengineering of procedures, which is expected to be implemented during next April, the registration will be through typing offices. The customer will finish most of registration procedures requirements through the typing offices. These include completing the registration form, payment of registration fees and key documents scanning.
Typing offices will scan photos of children below 15 in accordance with ICAO specifications. Then the customer will receive an appointment for registration where he will report to one of EIDA centers to complete fingerprint and photo procedures for those who are abo
