The Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters launched 4 new traffic e-services through Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway, www.abudhabi.ae, including: vehicle registration renewal, replacement of vehicle lost license, replacement of vehicle damaged license, drivers’ test file opening.
Director General of Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations, Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi said: “these e-services come under the cooperation and the partnership between Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), and aim to save efforts and the time necessary for clients (both individuals and companies) in the UAE, in implementation of Abu Dhabi Strategy aiming to adopt the concept of e-government, and develop governmental services through means that guarantee the highest levels of client satisfaction.”
Major General Al Raisi pointed out that the e-government aims to boost police services and extend them beyond their existing geographical borders, to reach recipients everywhere and at all times.
He confirmed that the Abu Dhabi Police will work during the coming period in coordination with ADSIC to provide the public with an array of essential services via Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway such as driving license renewal, tourist round trip certificates, reservation of plate numbers, renewal of the reservation of plate numbers, and vehicle transfer within the UAE.
Commenting on the mechanisms of the gateway, Al Raisi said: “using e-services via Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway requires user’s subscribing by using the national ID, in order to receive user name that will grant the subscriber access to these services, and provide him/her with the required data and information. Payments for services will be made securely and easily by using the subscriber’s credit card.”
“Relevant services such as Vehicle inspection and insurance have been linked with the Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway. Regarding the delivery of the vehicle ownership certificates, Abu Dhabi Police in a new initiative, will send the ownership certificate to a location chosen by the subscriber for free during the first phase, in order to encourage public to use this service,” he added.
Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre, said: “Abu Dhabi Government aims at employing all e-tools to provide government services to the public via Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway. The government will link different governmental and semi-governmental entities via its gateway.”
“The Abu Dhabi eGovernment Gateway provides up to 870 different services from government and privet entities in Abu Dhabi. The gateway has witnessed a great increase in the number of visits during last April, as it recorded around 2 million visits, and the total visits recorded by the end of April 2012 was estimated at 7 million,” he added.
Al Mansoori mentioned a number of services provided via the gateway including: issuing good conduct certificates; houses, lands and travel applications; driving licenses; jobs and employment. In addition to special features for nationals, health services, education, safety and security, law, culture, entertainment, Zakat Online Payment, water and electricity bills service, and 24-hour pharmacies service among others.
He assured that ADSIC made efforts to promote the gateway’s functions and benefits by carrying out several initiatives to support the gateway’s capabilities, mange its content and integrate and develop its online services. Al Mansoori confirmed that the upgrade process of the website guaranteed a seamless subscription process in order to integrate the website with other governmental websites, to allow ID authentication and provide users with ability to manage their accounts after the one-time registration.
