"Abu Dhabi Traffic" extends he grace period for renewal of registration to the end of May
The Department of Traffic and Patrols at ADP has responded to many requests and appeals of large number of motorists whose vehicles registration expired long time ago in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region. The grace period has been extended for one month until June this year starting from May 1.
The initiative comes to help the procedure of renewing registrations and cut the crowds expected at ADNOC Vehicle Inspection Centers in view of intense traffic control campaigns targeting vehicles with expired registration.
Colonel (Engineer) Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of Traffic and patrols said "He hopes that all drivers and vehicles owners will make use of the extended time given to them for renewing their registrations and pay their fines. He hopes that they will not wait until last moment again".
After the grace period no exemptions will be made and traffic patrols will be intensified on both internal and external roads in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region. Civilian-type and military patrol cars will take part in issuing fines and impounding vehicles with expired registrations. Violating vehicles will be impounded on the spot, including any vehicle which is over one month after its registration renewal dates.
L Harthi has urged drivers and companies which owns a fleet of vehicles to make use of this opportunity to avoid having their vehicle impounded. All drivers are requested to carry their driving licence and vehicle registrations, as any driver who does not carry these documents will be given a violation ticket and may be delayed temporarily with his vehicle until the documents are produced.
Colonel Al Harthi added "All traffic campaigns are to enhance traffic safety for all road users. Cooperation of the public with the police will make our roads safer.
The Department of Traffic and Patrols launched last week a campaign on internal and external roads of Abu Dhabi, al Ain and the Western region to spot vehicles with expired registration. 7246 violations were registered during the past period of this year. 2845 violations were for not carrying driving licence and 4401 violations were for not carrying vehicle registration.
