Under the patronage of H.H Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), Chairwoman of the General Women's Union and Chairwomen of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Child Protection Center, Traffic Coordination General Directorate, and Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, will take part in the exhibition organized in conjunction with the national campaign to raise awareness of children's rights which kicked off on Tuesday at the premises of the General Women's Union in Abu Dhabi.

Lt Colonel Faisal Mohammed Al Shammari, director of MoI Child Protection Center reiterated the UAE distinguished efforts in the field of child protection.
On the work paper presented by the Higher Committee for Child Protection titled “initiatives & achievements”, Al Shammari has tackled the efforts exerted by the ministry of interior in child protection. He referred to the ministerial decree regarding the creation of the higher committee for child protection which comprises members from ministries and government agencies.  The committee aims to achieve an integrated child protection approach which involves ensuring child safety at home, on the road, in the school, and while dealing with the internet and modern technologies.

The paper said that the UAE has shown its commitment to child protection through initiating international partnerships, enacting new legislations and entering world agreements and conventions.

The paper has also mentioned a number of initiatives and projects with the ministry has presented in child protection related issues.
According to the paper, 25 per cent of UAE young people are addict to modern technologies. In 2006 those surfing porn websites across the world were 28.258 persons every second.

The paper has also refereed to the destructive impacts of digital prostitution, technology and child sexual abuse in the world. It also cited the spreading of sexual forums and electronic websites, and their dangerous impact on the new generations.

The exhibition comprised of awareness posters on traffic laws, guide booklets on educating children and school students about dangers of crossing the road from undesignated points, and safe getting on and off the school bus.

The exhibition  also included a TV show displaying  the Committee’s activities and awareness  programs which has  already implemented, including use of children safety seats, films on children protection at home, public places, on the roads and in the vehicles.
