Abu Dhabi Police warned in an awareness video broadcast via its social media platforms of the dangers of illegal passenger transport and its negative repercussions on their security and safety, and urged drivers of private vehicles not to engage in passenger transport activity without the permission of the competent authorities.

ADP called on the public to use accredited and licensed transport, which conformed to global safety requirements and standards, and to cooperate in addressing illegal transport, in order to keep everyone safe.

ADP stressed the importance of cooperating with partners to address the illegal passenger transport process and promote security and community awareness by not using such illegally operated vehicles, stressing the continuation of joint campaigns with the Integrated Transport Center in Abu Dhabi, as a strategic partner to control violators.

Colonel Mubarak Awad Bin Muhairum, director of the Transport Security Department, said Abu Dhabi Police has stepped up inspection sit-ins to curb such violations. The penalty for using the vehicle to transport passengers without a license is a fine of 3,000 dirhams, a 30-day booking of the vehicle and 24 traffic points, he said.
