Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, underscored the country’s leadership attention and keenness to develop the competencies of its national cadres, as well as to encourage them to pursue further scientific research and achievement, to provide better police and administrative services to the public.

His Highness gave this address during the ceremony he held at Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s Conference Hall, to honor winners of the Minister of Interior’s Award for Scientific Research as well as the Award’s Board of Trustees members.

Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his pride with the young energies that exerted significant and tireless scientific efforts to achieve these valuable researches; so as to become role models and provide other community members with access to accurate scientific information in their respective fields of work. During the ceremony, His Highness called on winners to pursue scientific research and took the opportunity to launch the Minister of Interior’s Award for Scientific Research’s second edition.

A total number of 122 participants applied for the Award; 40% of whom were female personnel. Eight participants qualified for the second round, which ended with a top three winner list, who received valuable cash prizes and Scientific Research medals of merit from His Highness.

Winners were as follows: Lt. Colonel Eid Mohammed Al Thani ranked first for his research titled: “Radioactive contamination: response and prevention for security services”. Captain Bashir Al Bilbeisi and Lieutenant Salem Hassan ranked second with a research titled “University students turn to Law in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi”. Lt. Colonel Dr. Nawal Abdullah Al Kathiri, Dr. Ibrahim Abdul Rahman and technician Asmaa Kamel ranked third with a research titled “Developing a new rapid screening method for manufactured hash.”

His Highness also honored personnel members who submitted the Award’s initiative idea; Brigadier Mohammad Rashid Kasheem Al Shamsi; Captain Hatem Mohammed Farid, and First Lieutenant Salim Ahmed Al Ketbi.

Also honored were the Chairman and members of both the Founding and Executive Committees, namely; Lt. Colonel Dr. Hamoud Saeed Al Afari, Vice Chairman of the Committee; Captain Dr. Rifaat Rashwan; Dr. Fathi Khalil; and researcher Mahmoud Mohamed Abdulkadir from the Founding Committee.
The honorees from the Executive Committee were Colonel Mohammed Saeed Al Calily; Major Mohammed Khalifa Al Ali; Captain Saeed Khamis Al Junaibi; First Lieutenant Dr Mohammed Abdullah Al Hammadi; Lieutenant Juma Mohammed Al Hosani; First Assistant Khaled Issa Mohammed Al Ameri; First Assistant Abdullah Mohammed Al Hammadi; Sergeant Khalifa Ali Karam Al Balushi; Sergeant Daoud Al Marzouqi; researcher Dr. Mustafa Taher; and Ali Nayef Al Shalabi, in charge of supervision and technical direction.

Furthermore, Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan honored the distinguished research providers, namely; Colonel Dr. Ahmed Jumaa Youssef Al Haddad; Major Saif Abdul Ghafoor Al Awadi; Captain Maliha Mahmoud Al Mazem; Colonel Dr. Jassem Khalil Mirza; as well as the joint research submitted by administrative employee Amal Al Shibah Al Nuaimi and policeman Salahuddin Ahmed Al Tayeb.

The ceremony was attended by Lt. General Saif Abdullah Al Sha’far, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior; Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of the Dubai Police; Major General Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; Major General Khalifa Hareb Al Khaili, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior
