The Security Media Department has carried out a total of 99,460 tasks during 2013, tasks that embody the Ministry of Interior’s message to deal with transparency with community members via various media, and to acquaint them with the ministry’s services and achievements, as partners in the effort to maintain security and stability.
The Security Media Department communicates with the various society segments in three languages (English, Arabic and Urdu). It seeks to gain the confidence of members of the public, newspapers readers; social networking sites users and followers of other media, by interacting with them in a way that meets their needs and preferences.
Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Hussein Al Khajah, Deputy Director of Tactical Affairs and Security Media Department, at the General Secretariat of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Interior, highlighted the various activities achieved in terms of media material, TV and radio releases, publications, Internet, advertising, photography, translation, documentation, in addition to media archiving and documentation, the security media patrols, and campaigns.
The department also provides media outlets with three different media material (text, audio and video/photo), of the Ministry of Interior’s activities, services and various initiatives, especially those of interest to the public.
Lieutenant Colonel Al Khajah said that the Security Media Department is the arm of government communication for the Ministry of Interior and Abu Dhabi Police. “It is entrusted with the task of delivering the ministry’s media discourse as quickly and objectively as possible, so as to acquaint them with the elements necessary to enhance the sense of security and public safety. It also strives to promote positive behavior and patriotic spirit, with a view to activate efficient community partnership, among other objectives,” explained Lieutenant Colonel Al Khajah.
International Awards
Lieutenant Colonel Al Khajah highlighted the Security Media Department’s significant role, which earned the Ministry of Interior the Distinguished Government Entity Award in the field of Government communication, within the UAE Government Excellence Award in its first and second editions. “The Security Media Department also received three international awards in the Summit Marketing Effectiveness Awards competition, granted by the Summit International Awards. The department ranked first for its F999 sports car project; the project won the Platinum Award for the ‘Corporate Reputation’ category; it came second receiving the Silver Award in the ‘Non-Profit Entities’ category, while the Falcon Motorcycle received the Silver Award of Effective Marketing in the category ‘Corporate reputation’,” indicated Lieutenant Colonel Al Khajah.
Work Mechanism
Deputy Director of Tactical Affairs and Security Media Department explained the work mechanism at the Media Security Department. “Work is carried out by the department’s different sections and branches. The Press Branch sends press material related to the services and activities of the Ministry of Interior and the Abu Dhabi Police to the media. It also answers inquiries and questions from the media, and prepares press materials for media and awareness campaigns, as per a defined program that regulates topics and publishing schedule in media outlets,” said Lieutenant Colonel Al Khajah.
