The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan received today at his office, the delegations participating in the inaugural International Crime Scene Conference hosted by the Abu Dhabi Police in collaboration with the Forensic Science Society, UK , and was themed: "Crime scene investigations: the path to justice".
Sheikh Saif hailed the efforts of the delegations and the research papers they had presented during the conference, and also praised the recommendations of the conference and said that they will help to achieve the desired goals.
The meeting was attended by Lt. General Saif Al Shaafar, undersecretary of the ministry of interior, Major. Gen Nasser Lekhrebani Al Nuaimi, secretary general of HH office, Col. Dr. Saif Al Ameri, director general of security and ports affairs in Abu Dhabi Police and Lt. Col. Salem Al Dire, director of crime scene department at Abu Dhabi Police.
The participants recommended that the personnel working in areas of crime scene and forensic evidence should be encouraged to join specialized regional and global organizations, and that all research papers are to be documented in a book in both Arabic and English and get it distributed it to all the departments of Abu Dhabi Police, to participants and other concerned bodies.
They also recommended that the needs of Abu Dhabi Police, including research in crime scene and forensic evidence, be studied and approved as topics that should be raised in the next conferences.
In addition to that, a conference website including all papers and researches and the latest information in this field has also been recommended.
Col. Dr. Al Ameri praised the attention paid by HH Sheikh Saif to hold such conferences which allow access to the new developments in security and police fields. He also said that crime scene in Abu Dhabi Police is one of the important projects in last five years, indicating that it reflected the future vision to set procedures which targeted qualitative excellence to face crimes and achieve criminal justice.
He asserted importance of the recommendations of the conference which, according to him, will be utilized to create further development in the security field in general and the crime scene in particular.
The final day of the conference covered several topics, one of which was a paper presented by Kalum Sutherland, security advisor on crime scene, UK. He said that criminal investigations starts from the crime scene where the investigator, crime scene manager or expert defines how the scene was created, and how evidence may be found, so that he can examine the scene, recover evidences and prepare a scenario.
Major Ali Al Niyadi, head of fraud and forgery crimes branch at Abu Dhabi Police, gave briefing on tasks assigned to the branch and the responsibilities given by the law in order to preserve the evidences at the crime scene.
The sessions were concluded by opening discussions which were mainly focused on the importance of team work.
For his part Al Dire, expressed thanks and appreciation to the participants for their fruitful work, assuring that communication will remain constant with all organizations concerned with security issues to enhance the capabilities of those working
