Officials: "Rapid intervention units" provide the citizens and residents with the highest levels of safety
Rapid intervention units represent strong addition to civil defence, and they are very important associate in fire-fighting, ambulance and rescue. Their elements are qualified and work efficiently, said officials in Civil Defence Department in U.A.E
They emphasized , on the occasion of International day of Civil Defence , which is on Tuesday , that rapid intervention units have achieved excellence in accessing to the scene in a very short time , noting that they ensure the highest degree of protection to citizens and residents and their properties , through their humanitarian services of fire-fighting and rescue.
According to the statistics of the General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, the rapid intervention units have handled 1759 incidents in the north of emirates over the past year of various nature including fires, rescue, hazard materials and others. The units include 100 firemen and supervisors.
"The Rapid intervention units are the trusted partners of the civil defence in the area of field operation , as they the perform the same duties , receive same training and achieve the noble goals which the civil defence work for " said Major General Rashed Thani Al Matroushi ,the acting Director -General of Civil Defence .
Brigadier Saeed Saleh Al Matroushi, General Director of Civil Defence in Ajman said, “The quick intervention forces represent a strong support to civil defence, highlighting evolution which the civil defence in Ajman has achieved, two years after working in the emirate, in terms of equipments, machinery and experience of the personnel who made a qualitative leap in the entire performance.
He also added that the Quick Intervention Unit arrives at the scene and handles situation at a record time reaching, noting that units in Ajman includes 4 fire vehicles, one ambulance and other logistical support vehicle, provided with the latest technical equipment, as well as a private car to deal with accidents caused by chemicals and petroleum, with more 30 personnel, including 13 German experts.
“The Ministry of Interior has provided a great potential to the civil defence force in UAE to cope with the urban expansion, pointing out that the quick intervention unit provide huge support to the Civil Defence in handling the incidents" said Colonel Waheed Eissa Al Sirkal Director General Of Civil Defence, Sharjah.
"The Civil Defence duties are focused on ensuring the highest level of protection and safety, for the UAE citizens and residents, and on protecting their properties through offering their humanitarian services such as fire fighting and Rescue" said Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi Director of Civil Defence Department, Ras Al Khaimah.
Colonel Mohammed Abdullah bin Naseeb Al Nuaimi director of Public Safety and Emergency at Abu Dhabi Police pointed out that this project is getting the entire support from the higher leadership to provide a qualified and trained force to handle various incidents, in coordination with civil defense departments in the UAE cities, to raise the level of civil defence and incidents management services in fire fighting and rescue operations.
Colonel Ali Obeid Al Tunaiji , The Director of civil defence department , Fujairah, added that the quick intervention forces works in a high level of efficiency dealing with fire should they occur.
