The Ministry of Interior announced that relevant police authorities will intensify inspection campaigns daily, particularly after the deadline, to arrest violators of Law of Entry and Residence at the state level.

The Ministry emphasized that these violators pose a threat to the safety of community; and may partake in criminal activities as they try to provide the costs of their stay; should they fail to find a job.

This was announced by Major General Nasser bin Al Awadi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization Residency and Ports Affairs, at the end of his inspection tour on Tuesday; to the centers designated to process violators of Law of Entry and Residence in Al Sharjah and Dubai.

Al Menhali stated: “The State is keen to put an end to violators of Law of Entry and Residence, using different mechanisms and methods, as stipulated by the legislations and laws governing the entry and residence of foreigners; as well as imposing fines and penalties on individuals and institutions that do not comply with these legislations”. In addition to that, he stressed that the State implements awareness campaigns throughout the year; which are carried out by the Directorates General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the various Emirates.

Al Menhali noted that the grace period granted to violators of Law of Entry and Residence to leave the State is sufficient for them to come forward to the various centers designated at the Naturalization and Residency Directorates throughout the country, to have their paperwork processed. He pointed out that these centers have been equipped with all technical requirements and staff, to comprehensively and effectively perform the task and complete procedures in the shortest time possible, during morning and afternoon shifts.

He emphasized that those who fail to avail of the deadline, granted by the UAE government, will face the full force of the law. Moreover, fines will be imposed on violators who fail to come forward to the designated centers within the grace period, or those who employ them after February 4th.

Al Menhali and the accompanying delegation were briefed during the visit, on the procedures and workflow employed by both centers. He also reviewed the steps taken to address the violators that approach the centers to have their paperwork processed. Moreover, he lauded the employees’ performance, calling on them to redouble the efforts and provide all the facilities and services to clients.

During his visit, Major General Al Menhali was accompanied by Brigadier Ghareeb Mohammed Darweesh Al Hosani, Director General of the Ports and Airports Security Department; Colonel Yusuf Khouri, Deputy Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi; and Colonel Ali Ibrahim Al Tunaiji, Head of Violators and Foreigners Affairs Department.

For his part, Colonel Ali Ibrahim Al Tunaiji, Head of Violators and Foreigners Affairs Department at the Ministry of Interior, expected an increased turnout to centers designated to process violators’ paperwork throughout the state, during the remaining days of the grace period, from violators of Law of Entry and Residence wishing to avail of the grace period issued by the Council of Ministers.

He emphasized that the MoI will show no leniency towards violators after the grace period. It will carry out extensive inspection campaigns in all areas of the state, and will implement fines and penalties, as stipulated by the law governing the Entry and Residence of Foreigners in the country.
