The Ministry of Interior detained 457 infiltrators and violators of the Law of Entry and Residence of Foreigners; including 268 in Abu Dhabi, 95 in Al Ain, 54 in Ajman and 40 in Ras Al Khaimah.

Major General, Nasser bin Al Awadi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, commended the public’s cooperation with the media and social awareness campaign under the slogan “No to Violators” that aims to increase awareness on the importance of combating the scourge of violators of the Law of Residence.

“These campaigns are part of the efforts exerted by the Residency Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Department and other State level divisions; to curb intruders and violators of the Law of Residence,” he said.

He added that the clampdown campaigns currently implemented will continue, and will be intensified in different regions and districts at the State level, to apprehend the violators of the Law of Entry and Residence, emphasizing that violators will be referred to the competent authorities, to take legal action against them.

Al Menhali continued that the Ministry of Interior will spare no effort to track down any individuals who violate the Law of Entry and Residence of Foreigners, or those who enter the country and stay illegally. He called on UAE citizens, residents and all community sectors to cooperate with the campaign’s objectives by reporting such violations; avoiding covering up offenders or those who bring in, harbor and provide work and accommodation to these violators, who pose a threat to the security and safety of the community.

Major General Al Menhali urged public to help achieve the campaign’s objectives, and to communicate with concerned authorities at the Ministry of Interior to report infiltrators and violators by calling the “Sahim” Service toll free number (80080), 24/7, in order to contribute to enhance safety and security of the community.

The Residency Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Department in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with the Western Region Police Directorate and the Crime Prevention Strategy Division of Abu Dhabi Police, had conducted a number of search campaigns and raids, based on a tip-off received by the Division about a number of violators in the Al Musaffah, Bani Yas and the Tourist Club in Abu Dhabi and Madinat Zayed in the Western Region; which resulted in the arrest of 268 violators of different nationalities.

Moreover, the Residency Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Department in Al Ain conducted a search campaign and a raid, based on a tip-off received by the Division about a number of violators of different nationalities in different areas in Al Ain city; which resulted in the arrest of 95 violators who do not have identification documents. The violators, who were of different Asian nationalities, included 10 house maids who absconded from their sponsors, and 85 violators of the Law of Entry and Residence of Foreigners. All these violators were referred to the prosecution in order to take legal action against them.

On another hand, a joint committee formed by the Ajman Police General Headquarters, the Residency and Foreigners Affairs General Directorate and the Residency Violators and Foreigners Follow-up Department in Ajman, conducted a search campaign in different locations in the Emirate, based on a tip-off received by the committee about a number of violators of the Law of Entry and Residence of Foreigners. This resulted in the arrest of 54 violators including 31 house maids and 23 violators who absconded from their sponsors. Legal action was taken against violators, of different Asian nationalities.
