The “Together to Reduce Traffic Accidents” program, recently launched by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Department, continues to receive favorable response, as H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum endorsed the program on her Twitter account.
This participation underscores the enthusiastic interest shown by all classes of society towards traffic safety, and its impact on the community. It calls for uniting efforts to put an end to senseless bloodshed on the roads, and actively combatting the worrisome epidemic of road accidents by supporting the reduction of traffic accidents.
The highly valuable and appreciated endorsement of H.H. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid encouraged the interaction of thousands of her followers by re-tweeting promotional links to the program on their own accounts on social media websites, which spread the awareness messages and introduced many users to the “Together to Reduce Traffic Accidents” program.
Brigadier Engineer Hussein Ahmad Al Harithi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department, stated that the department is working diligently and dedicating every capacity and expertise to improve traffic safety on the roads to make a difference and achieve its ambitious plan by adopting a comprehensive approach that means engaging the three E’s of road safety (Enforcement, Education, Engineering) and targeting all community members and families.
Brigadier Al Harithi added that the “Together to Reduce Traffic Accidents” program is distinguished from other programs because it employs modern state-of-the-art technologies, chief among them social media. Indeed, the UAE is a leading state in using advanced Web and social media technologies, which have become a strong and effective method to address messages to different community sectors, especially the youth.
He went on to say that the younger generation is a strategic resource of human wealth, one of the cornerstones of development and progress; they are also the most vulnerable and affected category.
Brigadier Al Harithi pointed out that through social media, the Abu Dhabi Traffic Department attracted many followers on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube hoping to engage more users to support the continuous efforts deployed by the Traffic and Patrols Department to reduce traffic accidents and accomplish the zero-accident vision by 2030.
He finally urged all community members to partake in the program via the relevant links, mainly: Facebook.com\UAETogether; twitter.com\UAETogether; youtube.com\UAETogether; and www.uae-together.com.
The launch of the “Together to Reduce Traffic Accidents” program coincided with the 28th Gulf Traffic Week commemorated by the Abu Dhabi Police; the program shall span the entire year. This step is the first-of-its-kind, dedicated to many initiatives launched by the Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Department to manage, develop, and improve traffic safety levels across the state.
