A total of 56 people who are children of Emirati women in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, were awarded today Tuesday, with the Emirati citizenship, out of which, 20 were from Dubai, 22 from Sharjah and 14 from Ajman. Those persons were included in the generous decision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE to grant eligible people UAE citizenship.

Major General Nasser Al Awadhi Al Menhali, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Affairs, said: “The decision of His Highness, President of UAE, to grant citizenship to the sons of Emirati women, according to his decree, reflects the higher leadership’s keenness to treat the sons of Emirati women equally by granting them the Emirati citizenship”. He also pointed out that this decision is of a great importance because it promotes the process of development and prosperity witnessed by the UAE, and contributes in establishing social security and family stability. He added: “Our higher Leadership is striving forward to establish security and prosperity for all community members, in the light of the development and progress witnessed by the nation in many fields.”

Al Menhali congratulated the newly-awarded citizens for acquiring citizenship, and urged them to be exemplary citizens and protect the reputation of UAE, its dignity, and reflect its cultural and civilized foundations. He also called on them to respect the Constitution, to follow the laws in force and protect the norms, traditions, Arabic heritage and Islamic Shariah which characterize the Emirati society, as well as to work on promoting the level of the nation and reflect the civilized image of the UAE which achieved a decent life to all its citizens.

He added: “The higher leadership is keen to provide security and prosperity to the Emirati community to guarantee sustainable progress, so the UAE will remain a model to be followed in progress and prosperity, which our citizens aim to achieve, not only in the region but on an international level.”

The citizenship was granted to 20 people who are sons of Emirati women in Dubai, during a ceremony held at the Residency and Foreigners Affairs General Department in Dubai. The ceremony was attended by Major General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the Dubai Residency and Foreigners Affairs General Directorate, along with Colonel Obeid Sorour bin Muhair, Deputy Director of the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai.

A total of 36 people born to Emirati women in Sharjah and Ajman were also granted citizenship, out of which 22 in Sharjah and 14 in Ajman. The ceremony was held in the Residency and Foreigners Affairs General Directorate in Ajman and was attended by Brigadier Dr. Abdullah bin Saho, Director-General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs General Directorate in Sharjah, Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Alwan, Director-General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman, and a number of officers from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Ajman.

The citizenship ceremony was also attended by Brigadier Gharib Al Hosani, Director General of Ports and Airports in Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Matar bin Omaira Al Shamsi, Director General of Naturalization, Colonel Youssef Khouri, Deputy Director General of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Abu Dhabi.

The new citizens expressed their thanks and appreciations to His Highness, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE president, stressing that this gesture filled their hearts with happiness.
