Emirates Team to UK to participate in EU Exercise
In response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Emirates Search and Rescue Team, left, on Monday, through Abu Dhabi International Airport for the UK, to participate in the European Union Search and Rescue Operations Exercise, which will start tomorrow, Tuesday, up to the 9th of this month.
The aim of the participation is to offer all types of help in search and rescue areas for friendly countries in cases of disasters, and to represent the country in an honorable way.
The international task was announced by Colonel Mohammad Abdullah Sal Nuaimi, Director of Emergency and Public Safety Department at ADP GHQ and Leader of the Team. He said "The Team consists of 52 officers, NCOs and personnel who are specialized in search and rescue operations. They were classified by the United Nations in 2009 as a Medium Team".
"This participation receives great attention from HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, HH is keen to highlight national abilities in search and rescue areas and to offer assistance to friendly nations", added Al Nuaimi.
Major Mohammad Abdul Jaleel Al Anssari, Regional Chairman of International Search and Rescue Organization at UN, Field Liaison Officer with UN said "the UAE is keen, through its humanitarian duty and role, to give support and assist disaster victims. Emirates Search and Rescue Team comprises a number of qualified and well trained nationals. The Team is provided with best equipment and tools. They are ready for international and local exercises."
"This participation is in accordance with the MOU signed with the British Search and Rescue Team last March and ADP GHQ Five Year Strategic Plan which focuses on training and qualification of personnel, security and safety and community trust priorities. This will raise police personnel’s technical and administrative levels in different areas", added Al Anssari.
"Royal Jet Company aircraft will take the team to UK. Maximus Air Cargo Company will carry the equipment and vehicles of the team. Both companies are strategic partners with ADP GHQ.
"Emirates Search and Rescue Team is the only team outside EU which participates in the exercise. The participating teams include: Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Netherlands and Sweden", concluded Al Anssari.
