Certificate made mandatory for licence
Residents can no longer get driving licence with out first obtaining a certificate from the international driving company which certifies that the applicant has completed a test on theory
The international driving company is the only establishment that grants the certificate
The certificate is issued on completion of 14 hours of lectures, which cost Dh 780 and are mandatory for all those seeking the driving licence.
Lt.Col. Gaith Al Zaabi, Director of the department, stressed the importance of an examination on theoretical knowledge before obtaining the licence. The main cause of traffic accidents is the lack of awareness among the drivers about the safety rules, and the new regulation is to address this important issue, he said.
