Ambulance to patrol near schools in Abu Dhabi
and Al Ain
ADP Department of Emergency and public safety has announced its preparedness to deal with emergencies in the new school year. It has prepared its medical crews and well quipped ambulance patrols to exist near school locations in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain at the beginning and end of working hours.
Lt. Colonel Sultan Al Hosani, Head of Abu Dhabi Ambulance Section said "The Department is prepared throughout the year to deliver its services when required, especially during times which require to have its patrols intensified, including the beginning of school year and other seasons which witness traffic crowds that lead to traffic accidents".
"A plan has been made to deploy ambulance patrols at certain points near school buildings, at the beginning and end of school day. They are prepared to deliver ambulance and rescue services when required, and transferring injured people to hospitals.
Al Ain Emergency and Public safety Section has deployed a number of ambulance and rescue patrols near school streets during morning and evening period to ensure quick response to reports (God forbid).
Lt. Colonel Mohammad Ibrahim Al Amri, Head of the Section said "This action comes under the current campaign (Schools without accidents), which aims to reduce traffic accidents on roads".
Al Amri has urged parents to inform their children and drivers to take necessary precautions when reaching schools and to wait at places allocated for students drop off and pick up.
He has also urged those responsible for school bus drivers to educate them on how to deal with reckless behaviors of students inside buses while taking them from home to school and vise versa. They should report any violations to school administration.
Parents are also urged to advise their children about the risks of reckless behaviors so as to avoid accidents and to enhance public safety efforts.
He has also urged drivers to adhere to speed limits on internal and external roads. It has been noticed that some driver do not comply with speed limits, especially at residential areas.
He hopes that school directors will cooperate by educating drivers on road dangers and surprises which may face while transporting students from and to schools. Students should also be informed to cross streets at the designated spots. A slot on school radio should be dedicated for safety inside and outside school building.
