Naturalization and Residency Organizational Structure
Major General Nasser bin Al Awadhi Al Minhali, Acting assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Ports affairs at the Ministry of Interior revealed the details of the new Organizational Structure of naturalization and Residency in UAE.
Three new Directorates were introduced – Directorate General of Naturalization, Directorate General of boarder exits and Airports, Directorate General of Residency and Residents Affairs, all under the Assistant Undersecretary for Naturalization, Residency and Ports Office.
According to the new Organizational Structure, this came into effect beginning of this month. The Directorate General of Naturalization, which all Naturalization Departments in UAE come under it, will deal with naturalization issues including passports, family records and other relevant documents - for UAE nationals only.
The Directorate General of Residency and Residents Affairs will deal with visitors and residents of all categories related to matters from application for visas until cancellation of visa and leaving the country. The Directorate General of exit points and Airports will coordinate and develop work in different UAE outlets and airports.
Al Minhali stated that this new structure is in conformity with the vision of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. It is intended to keep pace with the development process that all cities and areas of the country witness now.
In addition to above three Directorates, other Departments have been introduced. They have supervisory and coordinating role in this phase one. Of these is one attached to the Directorate General of Outlets and Airports. All matters concerning Residency Law violators are transferred to the Department of Violators and Residents Follow up. It is under the Assistant Undersecretary Office. UAE Institute of Naturalization and Residency, which will provide all related departments with qualified staff.
