The Abu Dhabi Police announced that it will be providing services for vehicle licenses, both renewals and issuing replacements for lost and damaged ones, to clients without necessitating a visit to a service center. This convenient service is being implemented in order to save the time and effort of clients. Colonel Suhail Al Khaili, Chief of the Vehicle Licensing Section at the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department, said that the new services reflect the vision of the Abu Dhabi Government to enable clients to access services digitally.

He said that the new services allow individuals to perform transactions and issue replacements for lost and damaged licenses electronically, provided that an insurance certificate is available, along with the technical check certificate of the vehicle. He further noted that vehicles that have been used for less than three years are exempt from the technical check.

The Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department encourages owners to benefit from the e-services, and it has recognized the first 10 clients who renewed their vehicles’ licenses on the website in order to encourage others.

Colonel Barakat Al Kendi, Chief of Systems Development Section in the ICT Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, explained the steps to use this service. First, individuals must register through the Emirates ID in the e-Services Portal of the Abu Dhabi Police in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC). This registration will verify the information of the client and compare it to what is registered on his traffic profile. Following that, the registrant must be authorized to access the e-Services website of the Abu Dhabi Police, which includes services such as: e-renewal of vehicle licenses and e-issuing of replacements for lost and damaged ones. He said that the website allows clients to review all the information about their vehicles including fines, financial receipts, the traffic profile, information updates, and the traffic fines history in addition to other services.

He continued: “By accessing the account online, the service allows clients to review a statement of the vehicles they own and chose the ones with expired licenses; following that, the system performs a confirmation process of the required information for the renewal followed by a verification of a valid insurance certificate, the technical check certificate, and payment of unsettled fines. The client can also choose the courier service to deliver the license to the owner.”

The registration process via the Emirates ID card is highly secured, since it includes matching the traffic profile with the ID, which is too difficult to forge.

Vehicle owners said that they used the service for renewing their licenses without difficulties, adding that they benefited from the e-services on the Abu Dhabi Police’s website without any complications. The vehicle owners described the recognition that they received from the Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department for using the service as a civilized gesture. The UAE national Shojaa Ahmed Saleh Al Afifi expressed his appreciation for the Abu Dhabi Police for the facilities it provides to the public, noting that he managed to renew his license without the need of visiting the service center.

Doris Aljressi, an Austrian national said that she was pleased to be able to renew her vehicle license easily. She said that the ease of the process is attributed to the clear steps of accessing the e-Services Portal of Abu Dhabi Police, and encourages owners of vehicles to benefit from the e-Services in saving time and effort.

The Egyptian national Waleed Ahmed Ibrahim said that he taught others how to use the service, and encouraged them to continue benefiting from the service, a
