ADNOC expands technical inspection services of light vehicles

Abu Dhabi National Oil Distribution Company (ADNOC) intends to expand technical inspection of vehicles in Abu Dhabi Emirate, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters.

This will be done through opening new world-class inspection centers in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western region. This is in accordance with the agreement signed recently between ADP GHQ and ADNOC. The inspection cost of a light vehicle will be (Dh120) with effect from first February 2010.

This new step was announced during the press conference held at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department building in Abu Dhabi. Colonel Mohammad Mayoof Al Kitbi, Director of the Department, Mr. Nasser Ali Al Hamadi, Assistant General Manager of Retail sales at ADNOC, Mr. Shihab Ahmed Al Faheem, Support Service Manager, Mr. Issa Al Shamlan, Technical Inspection manager at ADNOC, Major Saif Al Mazroui, Director of Technical Inspection and External Services Branch and Major Saif Hamad Al Zaabi, Director of Vehicles Licensing Branch at ADP, were present during the conference.

According to Colonel Al Kitbi, the signing of the agreement is within the framework of joint coordination and cooperation with authorities concerned. The agreement allows ADNOC to continue supporting technical inspection services under ADP supervision for five years. ADNOC will cooperate with ADP GHQ by providing all financial and technical capabilities to carry inspection tasks appropriately, in line with volume of work and public safety requirements.

During the next six months, number of inspection centers will be increased according to global specifications. The increase will include Al Corniche and Al Mashrif stations in Abu Dhabi and another center at Khalifa City (A). The old nine centers in Abu Dhabi Emirate will be modernized. The company will meet customers' needs in remote areas and islands. A mobile inspection center will serve big companies and government departments without a need to visit inspection centers. An additional charge will be determined in consultation with ADP.

According to Al Hamadi, the new inspection centers will evaluate the roadworthiness of vehicles and their compliance with safety requirements specified by the Vehicles Licensing Department.
