The delegation of the Ministry of Interior headed by Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raisi, Director General of Abu Dhabi Police Central Operations, concluded a tour to a number of police and general safety institutions in United States of America and the United Kingdom to review the best international practices in Geographical Information System (GIS).
Major General Al Raisi reasserted the importance of this tour in reviewing the latest developments in the field of security and police work, as well as exchanging expertise and view fields of mutual concern. He pointed out that these visits come in line with the directives of our police commandment and Ministry of Interior strategy in scaling up police work in accordance with the best advanced international standards.
Major General Al Raisi was accompanied by Nasser Sulaiman Al Maskari, Deputy Director of Central Operation, who is in charge of the active response objective of these projects, Captain Mohamed Salih Al Mansouri, Director of GIS Security Center and Manager of the Strategic Initiative of GIS Security Systems, and Lieutenant Mohamed Saeed Al Mansouri from the GIS Security Center.
The tour included a visit to Los Angeles Police Department, where they received a presentation from directors regarding the Coordination and Planning Room for Crisis Management, the advanced specifications of the room, how to design it, its work mechanism, practical plans and role of GIS specialists during planning and practicing phases.
The delegation visited Geospatial Analysis Center of Crimes and Reports whether coming from police or received by Operation Room. The delegation viewed the latest programs in GIS security systems to analyze crimes geographically, provide decision makers and directors of the centers with the locations of reports and their geographical analysis with the purpose of finding operational and coordination plans for the crime affairs, members of the security information in police centers, operation, research and detectives rooms.
The delegation then moved to New York State where they visited Information and Technology Department and met directors, viewed a number of electronic programs used in the department regarding the integration of different systems and linking them to serve goals and services of the police institution as well as unifying information.
They also visited the advanced and modern Crisis Room, and got to know the role of the geographic systems and geospatial information in the Automatic Crimes Center, and how the center depends on linking programs, crimes systems and criminal reports whether in the centers or operation rooms and the integration of these information whereas its linked to the geographical information in a centralized method. This integration serves the analytic purposes of the workers in forensic research and security information, as well as crimes, reports and accident analysts using advanced GIS systems.
The delegation visited the Civil Defense Department in Brooklyn City in New York, whereas they viewed the course of GIS security systems in providing the central operation room with geographic information, digital maps of the buildings and its internal and external geographic layouts, location of Fire Departments, keeping track of their vehicles through GPS systems with the help of satellites coordinates and linking it to the digital maps in the GIS systems.
The officer specialized with geographical maps and plans gave a brief presentation about the role of geographic information and systems, and the method to transfer them between center and field units.
