802 vehicles fined for faulty tires rules,
655 pedestrians for not crossing roads at designated spots
Three days of Tires Safety Campaign launched by the Department of Traffic and Patrols at ADP resulted in booking 802 vehicles that violated tire safety rules, on internal roads and highways in Abu Dhabi Emirate.
Colonel Hamad Aadeel Al Shamsi, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at ADP said that the punishment of such violations would entail seizure of vehicle for seven days, Dh 200 fine for light vehicles and Dh 500 fine for heavy vehicles in addition to 6 black points.
Al Shamsi urged motorists to replace their vehicles’ tires, as Bridgestone Company, the sponsor of the campaign, would carry out free checks at its service stations. According to Al Shamsi, during the same period of the campaign 655 violations were registered against pedestrians who did not cross the roads at the designated spots. All violations were in Abu Dhabi City main streets, although they are provided with zebra lines, underpasses and flyovers for pedestrians.
He said that the efforts of his Department would continue in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Western Region to book violators along with awareness programmes.
