70 persons who do not carry identification documents have been naturalized
The Directorate General of naturalization and Residency gave Emirati passport to 70 persons who do not possess identification documents, after they have regularized their status and met all naturalization requirements including production of previous nationality. The committee has notified those whose their documents are not completed to try to complete them.
Major General Nasser Lakhreibani Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the committee, has stated that priority would be given to persons who have met the requirements. These include production of a previous nationality, and those who show a good will to regularize their statuses. He has also stated that the registration cards would be withdrawn when their holders are called to appear before the committee, as these cards are for confirming registration and protecting their holders against any liabilities during inspection campaigns which will be launched soon. These cards should not be used for any other purpose than registration. They will be electronically deleted as soon as the holder appears before the committee. Al Nuaimi has emphasized that the Ministry of Interior will deal with this matter with due transparency. The committee will announce all its procedures clearly on continuous basis.
In the same context, Brigadier Nasser Al Minhali, Acting Director General of Naturalization and Residency, has urged the newly naturalized individuals to fully comply with the principles and norms of exemplary citizenship and UAE constitution. They should abide by laws, regulations in force. They should also observe the deep rooted Arab traditions, customs, norms and Islamic Religion teachings.
One national G. S. 47 years of age expressed his gratitude to the leadership of UAE which has honored him with UAE citizenship. According to him, honesty, frankness, correct information and good will were behind his success in getting UAE citizenship. Others have stated that they are so pleased to be naturalized.
