45 new unmarked patrol vehicles to book reckless drivers
ADP GHQ has introduced 45 new unmarked patrol vehicles to its fleet of patrol cars, as parts of its efforts to enhance traffic safety and in continuation to traffic safety campaigns. Those who drive recklessly will be booked and legal actions will be taken against them.
This step is in response to the directives of HH Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed
Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and as follow up of traffic control plan. The new vehicles will be driven by Traffic Investigating personnel, in civilian dress.
According to Major General Nasser La Khreibani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of HH's Office, the aim of this intensive traffic control is to reach highest levels of safety and security on roads and to curb traffic accidents. During the last campaign under the theme "Keep distance before it is too late", some motorists violated rules and regulations, while others adhered to the campaign objectives.
Roads are the right of every one who conform to rules and regulations. Monitoring roads by use of unmarked vehicles is an innovative method and is adopted by many developed countries. We have done our duty by intensifying awareness campaigns. Now it is time for strict and severe punishment. The aim of this action is not to register violations, but to provide more protection to all road users.
ADP always keeps exemplary drivers on top of its priorities and is keen to honor them on all occasions because they set an example for others. He asked the motorists and other road users to comply with traffic instructions and directions and adhere to civilized values and cultural heritage.
Lt. Colonel Hamad bin Athith, Head of Traffic Investigation Section, Department of Traffic and Patrols at ADP, said that his Section will continue traffic control operations through their unmarked patrol vehicles. The patrols will be deployed as such: 30 cars in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, 8 patrols for highways at Al Mufraq and10 patrols at Tareef City.
Major Ahmed Salim Al Niyadi, Head of Media and Public Relations, Department of Traffic and patrols at ADP, urged all community segments and motorists to enhance ADP efforts in order to curb uncivilized practices on the roads.
ADP honored 7 exemplary drivers for their adherence to traffic rules and regulations during the event of revealing its exciting car "f 999" last October. The first and second winners were allowed to drive "f 999". The others received distinguished prizes including helmets bearing "f999" logo.
