16 civilian patrols to monitor offending Motorists in Abu Dhabi
The Department of Traffic and Patrols at Abu Dhabi Police intensified its civilian and police patrols to book drivers who do not adhere to keeping distance between vehicles as part of the campaign organized by the Secretariat General of the Office of HH the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, under the theme "keep a Distance before Repentance".
Colonel Khamis Ishaq, Deputy Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at ADP urged drivers to slow down and to keep a wider safety distance between vehicles to avoid accidents. Drivers should stay off-road during foggy weathers. They should also drive at a low speed conforming to surrounding circumstances. He confirmed the Department interest in securing traffic safety on internal and external roads during foggy weathers.
Lt. Colonel Hamad bin Athith Al Amri, Head of Traffic Criminal Investigation Section at the Department confirmed that the Section intensified its field campaign with participation of 16 civilian vehicles of different types - 4WD vehicles and light vehicles. They were provided with all necessary capabilities to perform their tasks efficiently.
According to him 1520 offences were registered by civilian patrols during the last two months on Abu Dhabi internal and external roads. The hotspots were Corniche Road, Al Khaleej Al Arabi Road and Mahawi Road.
Major Ahmed Salim Al Niyadi, Head of Media and Public Relations at the Department urged motorists and all community segments to enhance ADP efforts to curb uncivilized behaviors which lead to accidents, especially not keeping adequate distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front. The campaign focuses on adherence to traffic rules and regulations.
