The Air Wing Section at Abu Dhabi Police organized a training program on dealing with an air ambulance helicopter during serious incidents. The training program took place at the Police College headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

 It is noteworthy that 382 cadets, bachelor degree holders and female students from the College participated in the program, including 359 trainees from the 23rd cadets and bachelor degree holders’ class and 23 female students from the seventh batch of bachelor degree female holders.

The program embodies Abu Dhabi Police GHQ’s strategy, and its attention to the human element; to hone the skills of its personnel and qualify them to enhance work and improve performance.

Lieutenant Colonel Fahed Marhoun Al Saidi, Pilot and Director of Air Training Branch in Abu Dhabi Police Air Wing Section conducted the two-day training program, which included theoretical applications. He acquainted the candidates with the Air Wing Section’s various branches and functions. He also gave the candidates an overview of the aircrafts, their uses and the different equipment designed for various tasks.

Moreover, Lt. Colonel Al Saidi addressed the various air laws, which control the aircraft movement; the weather conditions, their role in air traffic, such as fog, and dust winds, which may cause a low visibility in some cases.

In addition, he discussed the design of the aircraft, and the risks involved in the take-off and landing processes, as well as the appropriate ways to deal with mechanical failure, which may pose a risk on the aircraft passengers and pilots.

Furthermore, Al Saidi discussed the TETRA network, its uses in terms of settings and extraction of sites’ coordinates to ensure the aircraft speedy arrival in case of accidents, or any calls in emergency situations. He also explained the emergency calls process, how to ask for an emergency aircraft, and to ensure its landing in the accidents’ sites, on roads or in desert areas, at all times of day and night.

At the end of the program, Al Saidi urged members to exert further efforts, pointing out that such training programs are designed to hone the skills, talents and competencies to improve performance.
