Heavy Trucks ban on Abu Dhabi roads in peak hours
 during the Month of Ramadan

Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters has decided to prohibit trucks (2.5 tons and above) from entering Abu Dhabi City during peak hours throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan, from 07:30 to 09:30 hours, and from 13:00 to 15:00 hours, with a view to reducing traffic crowds and facilitating traffic flow during peak hours.

Colonel (Engineer) Hussain Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of ADP Department of Traffic and patrols, urges trucks drivers to abide by traffic laws and regulations. Traffic patrols will be intensified on internal and external roads. Traffic control will also be tightened up and traffic violations will be registered in presences against all truck drivers who do not comply with above timings.

He has indicated the risks resulting from sudden turn of trucks, overloading of vehicles and not covering the truck cargo fully. These risks threaten the truck drivers themselves and other road users when the cargo starts falling in all directions from the truck. It distracts the other drivers' attention, impedes traffic flow in addition to environmental and civilized face damage of the city.

The traffic accidents in which a truck is involved leads to serious consequences and causes severe damage to lives and properties. Thus the authorities concerned have stiffened punishments against those who do not abide by traffic laws. He has stressed the importance of enhancing awareness efforts in cooperation with Medias in order to boost traffic safety in general.
