General Directorate of Electronic Services and Telecommunications at the Ministry of Interior has got the (ISO - 27001) certification in information security, in a new achievement by the ministry in process of quality and excellence and enhancing the efficiency of the institutional performance and active engagement in promoting community confidence in services provided by the Ministry of Interior.
Major General Matar Salim Al Niyadi General Director of Electronic Services and Telecommunications at the Ministry of Interior said, obtaining this certificate comes in line with the directives of our Police leadership to focus on promoting organizational excellence and performance development through the application of best international practices, and to achieve the strategic objectives of the ministry through the application of international standards in the field of information security.

He explained that the Strategic Plan of the General Directorate of Electronic Services and Telecommunications (2011-2013) includes the implementation of a strategic initiative aimed at implementing a comprehensive system of information security management at the Directorate.
Now that the ministry of interior is implementing integrated modern technologies, it has become necessary to develop effective policies for information security and adopt international standards to ensure protection and confidentiality of information through application of (ISO 27001), and building an integrated upgradeable information security system that is based on continuous and systematic operations in accordance with clear and reliable approach, said , Lt. Col. Khalid Nasr Al Tai’e, Director of Electronic Auditing and Information Security at the Directorate.
Obtaining this certification is an indication for the ministry's commitment to the protection and security of information and increasing competitiveness at the level of departments and organizational units of the Ministry, to improve the quality and excellence of services provided to the public, he added.
Coordination and communication have been made with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) which is a non-profit organization of 159 countries, one member per country, to ensure the effectiveness of security standards through conducting annual auditing and evaluation and developing work mechanisms, he pointed out.

Several workshops have been held for the dissemination of security awareness among users of IT systems, he noted adding that, the ICRA has accredited two groups of auditors between 2010-2011.
