Al Gharbia Police Directorate braced for the traveling by land season, as part of the security and traffic campaign, launched by the General Department of Police  Operations at Abu Dhabi Police; in cooperation with the Security Media Department at the Secretariat General of the Office of H.H Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, under the theme "Your safety."

Colonel Ajeel Ali Abdullah, Acting Director of Al Gharbia Police Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, stated that mobile mechanical and electrical workshops were geared up with a crew of technicians, to provide car repair services for travelers by land, especially on the international road. These workshops aim to assist travelers to continue their journey in the event of any simple malfunction, as well as provide an escort until the malfunction is repaired. In the event of significant malfunctions, the car is transferred to the nearest workshop in the Al Gharbia region, while motorists can dial the 999 number of Central Operations for assistance.

Colonel Abdullah explained that the mechanical and electrical mobile workshop provides assistance in repairing emergency malfunctions that may occur to vehicles, to allow travelers to continue their journey. It also provides tow service for vehicles with large-scale malfunctions to ensure a smooth traffic flow on the road.

He further added that as part of the Abu Dhabi Police campaign, the Al Gharbia Police Directorate provided police personnel to patrol the international road to facilitate the journey of travelers by land across the international road towards Ghuwaifat, and provide them with the necessary services and facilities at all times, in line with the efforts of the various Directorate’s police units to ensure safety for all.

Colonel Ajeel Ali Abdullah urged motorists traveling this road to comply with cargo height restrictions which should not exceed 60cm above cargo bays, so as to avoid the risks that the driver may face due to an overload that may cause the car to deviate from its course or tip over, particularly around curves. He stressed that abiding by these rules ensure the safety of travelers and their families, and avoid traffic accidents.

 Moreover, Col. Abdullah reiterated the keenness to develop mechanisms to communicate with the public and promote awareness and traffic safety among motorists; pointing out that the Abu Dhabi Police campaign aims to promote awareness for travelers by land, to ensure that they spend their summer vacation in safety and security.
