The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate warned motorists to follow the guidelines in decorating their vehicles for the National Day celebrations on December 1st and 2nd to avoid fines and the impounding of vehicles.

A comprehensive traffic plan has been set up to ensure traffic safety on all city roads and highways in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region during national day celebrations, emphasized Brigadier Hussein Al Harithi, Director of the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrol Directorate.

"We want people to take part in the festivities and enjoy the National Day celebrations, but without driving recklessly and endangering the lives of others," he said.

The police issued guidelines for decorating vehicles.

Motorists are prohibited from changing the color of their vehicles and posting inappropriate and/or obscene words and phrases on the car's body.

The police also prohibited vehicles from carrying more than the permitted number of people.

Passengers are also prohibited from sticking any part of their body out of the vehicle or attempting to perform stunts that could create chaos and block traffic.

Windscreens should be free from posters and vehicle license plates should not be erased or covered with stickers or any decoration.

Attaching any noise-making accessory or device is also not allowed.

Al Harithi warned motorists from stopping their vehicles in the middle of the road to spray paint on others.

Al Harithi called on motorists to comply with these guidelines for the safety and wellbeing of the society. Last year 25,682 violations were issued and 297 vehicles were impounded.
