The Abu Dhabi Traffic and Control Department in Abu Dhabi Police Directorate encourage drivers to be careful and adhere to traffic regulations due to the current weather pattern witnessed in the country. Drivers ought to be more careful in locations where sand piles up on the roads.
Colonel Hamad Mubarak bin Atheith Al Amri, Director of Capital Traffic Department in Traffic and Patrol Department in Abu Dhabi Police Directorate, encourages drivers to follow traffic signs, adhere to speed limits, leave a safe distance between vehicles, make use of hazard lights in case of a complete stop, and utilize the head lights even during the day to counter low visibility on the roads.
Al Amri reasserted the necessity be mindful and watchful for sand piles on the roads, which can cause major accidents.
He hoped that drivers follow safety precautions for this hazy weather, and watch out for any obstacles such as solid debris, tree logs, or palm leaves.
Al Amri encouraged drivers to be careful in the desert areas where roads do not have any barriers or trees or buildings on the side that help to decrease the force of dusty wind. When there are no barriers, sand can pile up in the road leaving drivers unable to avoid it while driving at high speeds.
The National Center of Meteorology and Seismology stated that this wave of dust and sand is coming from Pakistan and the South of Iran and moving gradually to northern and eastern regions of the country.
On Twitter, the Center published a photo of the sand and dust coming from Syria, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. The Storm Center confirmed low visibility due to hazy weather, and the sea’s high waves making unsuitable conditions for swimming.
