The Abu Dhabi Police managed to arrest an Arab citizen, in violation of the Law of Entry and Residence of Foreigners, for attacking women with a knife in residential buildings’ elevators after midnight, in order to rape them.
Colonel Dr. Rashid Mohammed Borshid, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, indicated that the Psychological Crimes section at the Department had received 4 consecutive notifications, on a male suspect, raping and attempting to rape Asian women in the staircase of residential buildings. The suspect threatens women with a knife, takes them by force under the staircase of the building. The suspect then runs away, either after raping the victims, or after the victim resists and screams for help.
Colonel Borshid added that the rapist lurks women aged between 26 and 30, late at night. He pointed out that some of the women were beaten by the sexually deviant suspect, and that he threatened to kill them if they report him, or refuse to indulge his wishes.
Moreover, Colonel Borshid emphasized that this crime was surprising, because Abu Dhabi is famed for its security; adding that such a criminal offense was rarely reported. He lauded the search and investigation team’s diligent efforts to locate and arrest the offender; following a well-thought security plan, under the supervision of Lt. Colonel Jumaa Al Kaabi, Head of the Psychological Crimes section, at the Criminal Investigation Department. He stressed that, despite the very little information provided by the victims, the team managed to find and arrest the suspect (M. A- 30 years old), and to seize the murder weapon.
The Director of the Criminal Investigation Department of Abu Dhabi Police expressed his thanks and appreciation to the search and investigation team for successfully fulfilling their mission, and arresting the offender. He noted that this is a message to all criminals that they can never get away with impunity.
