The Electronic Crime Forensic Laboratory of the Abu Dhabi Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was awarded the International ISO certification (IEC 17025) for Laboratories, by the Dubai Municipality Accreditation Department.
The accreditation represents an official acknowledgment of the competence and credibility of the Abu Dhabi Electronic Crime Forensic Laboratory results in accordance with the International standard specifications and requirements.
Brigadier Hammad Ahmed Al Hammadi, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Abu Dhabi Police stated that: “This certification is a new addition to the Abu Dhabi Police achievements in its quest for excellence and quality; in supporting the efficiency of institutional performance and the active participation in enhancing the society’s trust in police services.”
He added that: “Receiving this ISO certification is in line with the directives of the Police Command; stressing on the need to focus the efforts to promote organizational excellence, to improve performance through implementing the best international practices and achieving the strategic goals of Abu Dhabi Police using international standards in the field of Electronic Forensic laboratories.”
Al Hammadi also pointed out that: “Receiving this certification indicates the commitment of the CID to maintain laboratory security and increase competitiveness, as well as enhancing the quality and excellence of the services provided to the public” adding that: “the Abu Dhabi Police is working under close coordination with the Accreditation Department to ensure the efficiency of the security standards at the Electronic Crime Forensic Laboratory.”
At the end of last month, Aminah Ahmed Mohammed, Director of Dubai Municipality Accreditation Department, presented the International ISO Certification (IEC 17025) for Laboratories to Major Ali Al Rahbi, Director of the Electronic Crime Forensic Laboratory at Abu Dhabi Police at the Department.
Abu Dhabi Police CID’s Director praised the Accreditation Department’s efforts in evaluating and verifying the readiness of the Abu Dhabi Police Electronic Crime Forensic Laboratory, in accordance with the International specifications and requirements, which earned the Lab the ISO certification for Laboratories.
The Dubai Municipality Accreditation Department signed the Recognition Agreement granted by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) in 2009, making the UAE the first country in the Gulf to sign the agreement, which includes recognizing all accreditation certifications granted by the Accreditation Department to the testing and calibration laboratories in accordance with the general accreditation requirements of the (ISO 17025).
