With its formal logo and uniform used in the early days of the foundation phase in 1957, the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ took part in the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (IHEE) 2013. With this folkloric display of old police discipline; the Abu Dhabi Police shed light on the police and public security forces history in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, which was a significant part of the UAE history.

Visitors of the exhibition enjoyed the ADP’s participation, which began with a foot patrol parade, and were acquainted with the various stages of development of Abu Dhabi Police.

Colonel Saif Al Shamesi, Chief of the Cultural and Social Activity Section at the Clubs Department at the Abu Dhabi Police and supervisor of the foot patrol, said: “The Abu Dhabi Police foot patrol parade introduced the public with the various tasks and duties of the police and guards during that period; who were the main pillar to protect the homeland, maintain its gains, and provide security for citizens, residents and visitors alike.”

He added: “We also displayed old photographs, showcasing the history and prominent figures of the police; as well as photographs of the successive batches of graduates, and the training they received. This was the main attraction at the Emirates Heritage Club’s pavilion at the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition IHEE, which acquainted visitors with the tasks and duties that police staff members were entrusted with during that period.”

According to Colonel Al Shamesi, the audience enjoyed seeing police officers parading in formations, wearing their old uniforms, carrying on their tasks upon the directives of their commander. “They were acquainted with the training methods received by police personnel on martial arts and combat techniques, as well as the ethics of social behavior, and security and community services,” he explained.

Concluding, Colonel Al Shamesi said: “As a national institution, the police force maintains its historical memory, and prides itself with the early stages of foundation.  The achievements that we are witnessing today complement a series of interrelated phases of progress, and are the fruit of diligent efforts exerted by the subsequent generations of nationals, who served their homeland since the dawn of the union.”
