1581 offences for non-adherence to the right lane
The total offences registered by Traffic Patrols of ADP Traffic and patrols Department during the last two weeks were 1581. They were all due to non-adherence to lanes. This step was within an integrated plan to gear up traffic control on internal and external roads of Abu Dhabi City in coordination with the Comprehensive Police Stations to curb such traffic violations. The drive will continue until the end of this month.
Lt. Colonel Ahmed Al Shuhi, Director of the Capital Traffic Department at ADP Traffic and patrols Department said “I warn against risks of offences committed by drivers who do not adhere to their lanes. In other words, the driver who wants to turn left should adhere to the nearest lane to his direction. They impede by such behaviors traffic flow especially when the light signal changes”.
“Strict traffic control will continue round the clock to ensure safety on roads and compliance with traffic rules and regulations. Booking drivers in presence is intended to control offenders and to educate them on the dangers of non-compliance with traffic rules”, added Al Shuhi.
Al Shuhi urges motorists who want to turn left or right on internal and external roads to adhere to the nearest lane to their intended direction. Adherence to the nearest lane is part of safety procedures and assists in traffic flow in all directions. Those who commit such offences will have to pay Dh200 in fine in addition to 4 traffic points.
