Colonel Hamad Mubarak bin Atheith Al Amri, Director of Capital Traffic Department in Traffic and Patrol Department in Abu Dhabi Police Directorate called on motorists to drive their vehicles with caution; to reduce speed near the pedestrian crossing lanes and give pedestrians priority for crossing, especially in high traffic density areas, near shopping malls, public gardens, parks, and near traffic lights intersections.

He also urged individuals to cross from the designated pedestrians’ crossings, for their own safety, to avoid run-over accidents.

It is noteworthy that the Traffic and Patrol Department in Abu Dhabi Police continues to raise awareness among individuals through the Educational Patrols campaign under the slogan (Let’s Work Together to Improve Traffic Safety) in order to preserve public safety, in line with the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters’ strategy to make roads in the Emirate safer.

Colonel Al Amri called on parents to take the necessary measures and precautions and promote efforts to ensure their children’s safety from run-over accidents they may get exposed to while crossing the road; for failing to use the designated pedestrian crossings.

He appealed to parents to supervise children closely, by preventing them from crossing roads by themselves, or playing ball in the streets, parks and public gardens, and preventing them from playing bicycle on sidewalks, main and sub-streets that witness a dense traffic flow during the summer holidays, noting the existence of special spaces designated for children in public gardens and parks.

Colonel Hamad Al Amri urged drivers to abide by traffic laws, to cooperate with patrols deployed on internal and external roads, and refrain from exceeding the designated speed limit, so as not to expose their lives and the lives of others to risk.

He finally emphasized that the Educational Patrols stationed in many vital areas are fully prepared to answer all the citizens’ inquiries and to provide assistance upon request.
