Abu Dhabi Police, represented by the Western’s Region Arms and Explosives Section, in collaboration with the Western Region Police Directorate has conducted an awareness program on the risks of firework targeting youngsters in the region.
With Eid Al Adha festivities drawing near, Director of Abu Dhabi Police Arms and Explosives Section, Colonel Humaid Saeed Al Afreet, appealed to parents to educate their children about the seriousness of playing with fireworks specialty in residential areas and parks where people generally assemble to celebrate the Eid Holidays.
Fireworks can potentially cause physical damage and can start fires thus threatening the safety of the members of the community and their property, he added.
Captain Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Ma’mari, head of Arms and Explosives Section in the Western Region, urged members of the public to report fireworks-related offences. They should report the shops and mobile vendors who are involved in the buying and selling of fireworks by calling 999 or calling Aman service on 8002626.
