The Procurement and Depots Department in Abu Dhabi Police hosted a number of health awareness activities including free medical tests for its staff. The Abu Dhabi Health Authority, represented by the Department of Health Education, organized an awareness program on “Asthma and how to deal with it” at the Department’s headquarters. The program was attended by a large number of employees from the Procurement and Depots Department.

The Prime Medical Center Clinic in Abu Dhabi offered a free medical test for the Department’s staff, including blood pressure measurements, cardio tests and blood sugar. It also offered tips and guidance to the department’s staff on the importance of performing such periodical tests for prevention and early detection of chronic diseases.

Brigadier Saif saeed Al Nuaimi, Director of Procurement Department stated: “The purpose of providing these services comes in line with the Department’s attention to its staff, and its firm belief in the importance of maintaining their health and safety, particularly because such programs contribute in increasing the levels of medical awareness, based on the principle: prevention is better than cure”.

For his part, Captain Hussain Sadiq Lari, Director of the Planning Division, said that the Procurement and Depots Department –an OHSAS 18000 certified entity for health and safety systems- is keen to adopt prevention as a civilized behavior among its staff.

Muhammed Ali Faidi, Environment, Health and safety Coordinator at the Procurement and Depots Department valued the interaction of the staff with the programs and the medical test campaigns that included all staff, reaffirming the success of such an experience, and an increase in the levels of awareness among the staff, on the importance of early detection of chronic diseases.
