Al Shweib Civil Defense forces rescued six people after a fire broke out in a 4-story building. Among the people rescued were a women and her son who tried to jump off the building out of fear of being burned. The fire, which took place in Al Madam in Sharjah on Wednesday evening, did not cause any injuries. Upon arrival, the civil defense forces had the building evacuated, rescued the people that were in danger, and put out the fire.

Lt. Colonel Rashid Mohammed Hamar Ain Al Darmaki, Head of the Al Ain Civil Defense Department said: “The flames completely destroyed a bedroom and a living room in one of the flats. The building was affected by the dense smoke that was caused by the fire. Fireman assistant Awadh Mut’eb Al Kutbi was coincidently nearby, and helped the civil defense team in rescuing the women and her son who tried to jump off the building. There were no injuries.”

The Al Ain Civil Defense team had received a phone call from Al Ain Police on Wednesday at around 2:30 pm, saying a fire had broken out in the Al Madam area in Sharjah. A team from the Al Shweib Civil Defense Center, which was the closest to the location, immediately rushed to the area. The team members rescued the people who were surrounded by the fire and had the rest of the building evacuated. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
