The Ministry of the Interior has discussed the initiative of implementation of sentences against the inmates of the punitive and correctional institutions, at a meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry, headed by Brigadier General Hamad Adeel Al Shamesi, Director General of Punitive and Correctional Institutions at the Ministry of Interior.
The conferees have discussed the objectives of the strategic initiative, which relates to the implementation of sentences against inmates according to the laws of the UAE in general, and the law of punitive and correctional institutions, and its executive regulations, in particular. They have also discussed many other issues including granting the inmates their rights, expediting the procedures of their release, ensuring the application of international laws and standards, supporting the strategic objectives of the Ministry, maintaining public confidence, and improving the living conditions of inmates.
The meeting reviewed the implementation mechanism of the articles and the objectives contained in the initiative and promotion of an effective partnership with key and strategic partners, including the Ministry of Justice, the judicial authorities, prosecution, both at the federal and local levels, as well as a number of other related topics on the agenda.
