The Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department at the Abu Dhabi Police, hosted an educational event, as a part of the “Be a Paramedic” campaign. The campaign, which was launched by the Emergency and Public Safety Department, aims at educating and training employees at government institutions in Abu Dhabi about the basic first aid techniques and tips.
Brigadier Mohamed Mayouf Al Ketbi, Head of Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department emphasized the department’s commitment to provide first aid training to staff members, so that they can competently and efficiently react to emergency cases. “As per their strategy, the Abu Dhabi Police endeavor to disseminate the culture of first aid between staff members and to emphasize the importance of learning and mastering these skills that can help save the lives of others,” he said.
As a part of the awareness-raising program, a team from the Emergency and Public Safety Department acquainted staff members at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department with the conditions and procedures for public safety, the risks of household and traffic incidents, fires, and cases of choking, slipping, or drowning. They also explained the appropriate ways to handle injuries and reduce complications resulting from accidents, heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and other medical conditions; in addition to the proper procedures to request the ambulance service and provide an accurate description of the accident location.
Staff members at the Vehicles and Drivers Licensing Department were also introduced to the preventive measures to reduce household accidents; the means to handle such incidents should they occur, and how to request help in different cases of household accidents. They were also acquainted with the proper ways to recognize pathological cases and the different steps of calling an ambulance.
