The Emirates Women Police Association (EWPA) recently organized the second winter camp initiative in the Winter Camps Region in the emirate of Dubai. Female staff members of the MoI and female employees of other entities took part in the camp, in addition to a number of female students.

Lamya Al Zaabi, the Association’s coordinator in the emirate of Sharjah and the Eastern Region and founder of the initiative, explained that organizing the camp aims to enhance the spirit of cooperation and harmony among the participants and to motivate them to show their talents and various skills such as photography, poetry, and other hobbies.

The winter camp program included a number of activities and events. Awareness lectures were held and tackled topics such as the importance of monitoring children while using social media, raising mothers’ awareness of the role of domestic workers, emotional intelligence and its role in the field of work, and volunteers work and its importance for the individual and society.

The camp program also included a reading session, during which a number of books on a variety of topics were read and discussed. This approach is in response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who has declared 2016 as the “Year of Reading”.

The participants were keen to clean the area surrounding the camp, out of their firm belief in the importance of keeping the environment clean from harmful wastes. A number of cultural and recreational competitions were also organized; gifts and prizes were distributed to the winners.
