The Emirates Society for Animal Welfare convened its ordinary general assembly meeting at its Emirates Park Zoo headquarters located in Al Bahia, Abu Dhabi. The meeting was attended by the representative of the Public Utility Associations Department, at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
After achieving quorum, the Society’s members discussed the administrative and financial report and re-elected the Board of Directors for a second term, chaired by Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, so as to continue the tasks entrusted to its members for the next four years; based upon the Society’s statute and the Law on Public Utility Associations at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Emirates Society for Animal Welfare underscored the responsibility and duty entrusted to the new board members towards animal welfare issues and spreading awareness about the need to protect animals.
He urged the new board members to increase the efforts towards spreading the culture of volunteer work and raising the awareness of the public about the importance of animals in maintaining ecological balance that ensures the continuity of life on the planet. He called upon the members to come up with initiatives and ideas to promote the goals of the Society.
Major General Dr. Al Nuaimi stressed the keenness to support actions that aim to promote the Society’s objectives and raise awareness on the Federal Act provisions for the year 2007 regarding animal welfare, as well as the local laws related to animal welfare and the environment.
The new Board of Directors consists of: Rashid Salim Saif Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, as Deputy Chairman, Mohammed Hamid bin Dalmouj Al Dhaheri, Faisal Sultan Al Shuaibi, Jamal Juma’a Habash, Saif Salim Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Saif Saeed Salim Al Shamsi, Abdulrahman Al Mansouri, and Noha Rashid Al Hinai.
It is worth mentioning that the Society was declared by the Ministry of Social Affairs based on the ministerial decree no. 56/2011. The Board of Directors’ Interim Committee had invited the Society’s members to attend the General Assembly meeting, in keeping with the keenness to implement the provisions of Article 24 of the Assembly’s Statute; pursuant to the provisions of Law No. 2 of 2008 on Public Utility Associations.
